18: Third Day Worship in the Pines- 2006
DISCLAIMER: To all of you Gomers, please don’t start rioting that Third Day is only at number 18. Trust me, this is NOT the only time they appear on this list!!
This being my 7th concert, I expected nothing less than a killer show. I received so much more than that, but read on, it gets interesting.
After a 5 hour drive from Tucson to Flagstaff, AZ, we were all beat and hungry. So we checked into hour hotel and went to eat. Dinner was nothing short of amazing. Those little dives in small towns *even college towns like Flagstaff* really know what they’re doing. However, we had a nasty surprise waiting for us when we got done.
It didn’t just rain, it poured. It poured for a good three hours. Of course, we were all freaked out, thinking they were going to cancel the show because it was at an outdoor amphitheater venue. But, we remained calm and went shopping at Wal-Mart for anti-rain gear. Turns out, as we were much pleased to discover, we really didn’t need anything but the tarp we’d bought to sit on! It stopped raining a good two hours before the show, which was nice because we sat in line for a good while before going in. But we did score these….
Anyway, the show itself was amazing, as usual! Mom and I almost got kicked out because we had a been smoking. Hehe oops! We also saw Hyperstatic Union that night, and I must be honest, none of us were too impressed, but we had a good time.
One of my favorite parts was that I saw Mac standing just off stage during HSU and I waved at him, and he kinda nodded his head and gave me that cheesy little grin he has. I melted of course and Mom found out that night about my little crush. I don’t know why it took her ten years to figure THAT one out.
I got to say, though, the next day was far more interesting. On the way out of town, step dad decided it would be fun to steal the concert banners….
Oh yeah, that baby still hangs in my room too. =)
