...Ponderings...

My thoughts on life, love, family, friends, and God.

I couldn't be more proud. He's made it through the toughest week of his life. The Crucible is the toughest of all training missions except for Hell Week for any and all branches of the US Military.

Today we learned that my brother, Ethan R. Short, now to be known as Pfc. Ethan Short, has earned his coveted globe & anchor. He has officially earned the title of US Marine. I couldn't be more proud.

In about 6 days, I will be on my way to California to see my brother officially graduate from USMC boot camp. The next several days will be spent preparing for his graduation so we will probably still not hear from him very often if at all. Thursday, August 27th will be the first time I will see or speak to him since May 31st! I am so excited and I can't wait to get there, hold him, kiss him and tell him how proud we all are.

One thing that I know has gotten him through is all of my wonderful friend's prayers and support! Now I know a lot of you guys have been following the saga of boot camp with me, from the day he left, till he got sick and had surgery in the same week, and now as I get ready to leave to see him. You have all been so wonderful to pray for him and my family and to send him messages. On behalf of my family and my brother, I thank you all.

Now I would like to extend to you all the opportunity to congratulate him. I would like to print up a page for him with some messages to keep up his morale as he heads off to his job training. He's over the worst of it but he only has 12 days with his family before heading to further training as presidential security.

So I’m leaving the comments open for you to send your congratulations messages! You can also e-mail them to me. I’ll be sure to compile everything into a letter for him. And thank you so much to everyone who’s prayed for him and our family!

Congratulations, PFC Short. Genna's been updating me now and then on how things have gone with you. I must say that when she showed me an article detailing "The Crucible," I felt like a weakling just reading it. You have my respect and admiration. I wish you well.

Congratulations Pfc. Short. You have taken a step that very few people CAN take. It is a small group that can make it through the tough training the Corps offers. All of them that I have ever met, have been forever changed (for the better) by it.

Whether you have a long military career, of a single tour of duty, you are part of an elite force that has put all or our lives and safety before your own.

Thank you very much for deciding to honor and protect this great nation. You are a hero for life. God Bless and Protect you.
